“Please don’t allow society to tell you safe spaces aren’t needed. They are, in fact, it’s f**king therapeutic.”

Is there a membership fee?

Yes, we accept referral-based members, and a fee is associated with joining. There is one membership. Funds are collected to cultivate our month-to-month social experiences.

How often does the group meet up to discuss readings?

We read one book a month and meet on the last Sunday of each month. Sundays set the tone for the week ahead. Why not spend it with your dope community of sista baes?

How are the books selected?

Each and every member's ideas matter. As a member, you have the opportunity to be a part of the book selection process by recommending books to the founders based on the theme of the month. Usually a week before our next read, collectively, the group will vote on a total of the three recommended books.

How old do you need to be in order to join the club?

To join and participate in our group, you (or any approved guest) must be 21 years of age.

Is the Book Club open to any and everybody?

The book club is referral-based, only. Your referral must be an active BCM member. An active BCM member has been in BCM for 8 months and is active on BCM private platforms.

HOW CAN I JOIN?

In order to join, you will have to get in contact with someone who is already a part of our cohort. You will need to provide your name, contact information, email, and monthly fee. If you are unable to join our month-to-month membership but would like to participate in others ways, you can follow us on Instagram @book.club.magic, read along, and engage with us.

Where are the group meetings located?

Our in-person events and book discussions take place in the Tri-State area. Currently, we have members across the United States who join us via Zoom for monthly discussions.

Can I pause my membership in BCM?

If you choose to pause your membership/activity in BCM, you will need to notify the founders of your wish to do so by the 30th of the previous month. Inactivity beyond 90 days (via Facebook, monthly in-person discussions, or virtual discussions) will disable your account and access to BCM private platforms. To renew your membership you may be placed on the waitlist.

How can I join the BCM retreat as a member?

The yearly BCM retreat is open to active sista baes. Starting in 2023, there will be an application process to attend our yearly retreats.
